The community is in the middle of the construction process: it is building public institutions, synagogues, kindergartens and schools, sports fields and preparing 160 housing units for new families who will join the community. The members of the community take part in educational and cultural activities with the surrounding communities, and work to illuminate the southern communities with the light of Torah. About 50 families from Kfar Darom live in the community.
The same high quality education system operates in the new community as there was in Kfar Darom, providing a solution for the children of the community and the children of families from the area who desire quality Torah education for their children. Day care centers, kindergartens, a school and a Talmud Torah. The community’s education system provides a solution for about 250 children, an increasing number every year.
The Institute for Torah and the Land of Israel is also active in the new community, researching the application and explanation of the mitzvot that depend on the land, guiding farmers and developing technological and halachic innovations in the field of agriculture. The Institute was established back in the days of Kfar Darom and continued with the community to Ashkelon and from there to Shavei Darom. At the same time, there is a Torah and Land midrasha, a mobile midrasha that aims to reach schools and kindergartens with activities combining experiential learning on various topics that strengthen Israeli children’s connection to tradition, the Land of Israel and the nation of Israel.
