A community named after the Quail bird which the Israelites ate, according to the Book of Exodus, during their wandering in the desert.
Founded in 5740 (1980) as a Nahal settlement, and from 5742 (1982), following the Sinai disengagement, served as a transit base for the various settlement groups, among them Atzmona. Slav also housed “Midreshet Hadarom” College. In the early 90’s, three families lived on one part, while the other part became a Border Guard base.
In 5760 (2001), a group of students and teachers from the “Etzem” paramilitary preparatory course in Atzmona joined a few families who were living there.
