Life Story

Ilya, son of Ya’acov, was born in Russia on September 25, 1940 and grew up there. In 1992 he made aliya to Israel together with his wife Nina, and their married daughter Rita and her family, where they lived in the community of Homesh in the Shomron. The Krivitz’ second daughter, Svetlana, joined them several years later. Ilya worked in a printing shop in Netanya.
On Wednesday, June 20, 2001, Arab terrorists shot Ilya from short range and critically wounded him. The shooting took place in the Arab village of Silat al-Dhahar near Homesh, to which Ilya regularly came for business dealings with one of the villagers. After being shot, Ilya, badly wounded, managed to get to his car and drive until the entrance of his community, but there he died.
Ilya was 61 when killed. He left behind a wife, two daughters and five grandchildren. He was laid to rest in the Netanya cemetery.
